- The Precambrian was the time period that came before the cambrian and took up about roughly 7/8 of the earth's history. It started when the earth was created and consisted of three different eras (Archean- prior to 2500 MYA, Proterozoic- 2500 MYA- 600 MYA, and the Neoproterozoic- 600- 542 MYA). For most of the Precambrian, there was no such thing as life, and the atmosphere was toxic and alien. Towards the end of the Precambrian, microscopic life started to evolve under the sea, and then blossomed into soft-bodied cells such as Jellyfish.
